ciao! My name is Michelle and I live in San Francisco. I mostly make large scale photographs but have recently branched out into creating interactive food events involving cupcakes with gross text on them. I am part of an art duo called twice the guilt. We dress up as 1950's house wifes and serve up batches of home made cakes. It's fun to see if people will eat a cupcake that says the clap...teehee!

          Jakki,

I haven't talked to her in about 5 years. Let me see if I can make contact and lure her over to tribenet.

I LOVE that outsider art museum you have in Baltimore. I saw the opening show, the one with all the wood pieces. By the time I got to the third floor I was so excited that I was dancing around in the balls of my feet. I often find museums and galleries kind of a drag, but that place was awesome!

    Hullo everyone,

I'm from Oakland, CA and this weekend I just moved about an hour north to Sonoma County (Guerneville) right smack in the middle o' the redwoods. It is beautiful here and a perfect location for me to fine tune my artistic abilities. I play guitar and piano and write lyrics. Sometimes when I play piano and I am all alone, I have been known to compose a little (my stuff sounds Bach-ish) I also write poetry and stories. The stories are all either fantasy or sci-fi oriented, and the poetry is mostly goth angst (of the nick cave variety) and lovesick dribble.

    Tears!

My name is Tarin Towers, and I eat art like air. I'm trying to figure out how to focus on an art interest that'll pay the bills so I can get out of Computerlandia and be a full-time artist.

Writing: I'm a professional writer in the tech world, but that's not my real deal. I'm a poet (with a real book and everything, on Manic D Press) and a fiction writer and an essayist. And I love copyediting; call me weird, but I have a passion for clarity.

      Visual: Collage, assemblage, sculpture, installation.

Performance: I've done two cross-country tours doing performance poetry, but currently I'm trying to take my words to more people by adding musical scores to fiction & poetry. I do this in a band called Tarin Towers Shuts Down where I work with various musicians, mostly electric guitar and bass. I also curate a mostly-monthly series called Chick Nite at Spanganga Gallery in San Francisco, where I emcee and do standup as part of sewing together a performance night with poets, storytellers, comics, musicians, and fiction/nonfiction writers.

Music: I write songs and sing (guest lead vocals) with a band called The Slings. I'm also taking drum lessons & plan on taking some guitar this year.

Dance: I dance all the time and I have a green belt in 8-Step Preying Mantis Kung Fu.

Thanks for reading, keep the faith, etc.,

      /tarin

I'm Stephanie aka Zoe Serious a new dream state entity that I'm just starting to explore. I've just returned to Canada after living in Thailand for 10 months and am moving to SF as of March.

I'm into very crafty things, collage, plaster casting- which now includes showgirl style headdresses, letter writing, knitting (I want to learn more and crochet too), some sculpture, black light art painted backdrops, handmade picture frames.

I also love to create fantastically strange dinner and cocktail parties that show off my Martha Stewart on acid food style. Creating costumes is another creative venue and I find that my wardrobe constitutes an act of art many days. I would like to learn to sew better and create patterns properly.

I really want to learn welding, pottery and how to tile things. I also want to do more natural homebuilding, especially cob.

I'm challenging my green thumb to grow beautiful tomatoes and herbs. I just completed my first quilt square in many years. This year I'm going to tackle my first art installation, tranferring silhouette shapes from photos to life-size wood cutouts and assembling them around a fire source (in the spirit of those Circle of Friends candle holders).

Hi I'm Melissa, in Oakland, and am currently semi-obsessed with silkscreening - I love the process of it, and the way no two of my prints are never really alike... I also sew a little (getting better by the day), I don't use patterns so I guess I design too. And hopefully I'm learning to weld soon (can't wait - it's an unbelivably functional skill).
