Tribe Viability

I'm fairly new to this tribe thing, but it seems to me that if no one is posting, the tribe is moribund. I'm reviewing my memberships and clearing out the dead wood. I like the concept of this tribe, but it ain't hardly breathing. The only sign of life is the gallery. C'mon folks, communicate!

come on women! we're always bitchin that our men don't communicate with us as well as we think they should. i guess what we need is a topic...hmmmm..
ok. what in life creates a true feeling of passion for us?

mine, well, i'm passionate about making people dance. being a d.j. and all. i'm passionate about thoughts and feelings being completely or mostly understood and taken into consideration. i tend to be passionate about the truth.
come on ladies...what fires you up?

Your absolutely right Jakki, there is a lack of communication. But
when your spinnin, your in control of the dance floor. The feedback that you seek is when people are groovin and shakin. You know when your magic is working and after seeing your last set, you are one primo dj. In life there are so many paths to take but not enough time, it what make you happy for the moment. Sculpture and jewelry
is my way of communicating. Give me a ring so we can talk about your tv show.

Well, check it out... the guerrilla girls walk around anonymously in the guise of some old artiste lady. In keepin' with the flavor of burnin'bush, who might you be?! A creatively morbid one, like Lizzy Borden? Or ehmm... some witch burned at the stake? or....
we aren't dead yet, are we?
    Happy New Year!
I'm hoping to be in NYC & baby free!

One of the things that keeps a tribe lively is numbers. If you spot someone posting on a message board in another tribe who looks like a likely member for SotBB, click on them and send 'em an invite.

      The more the merrier.

    Making the Online Connection Offline

    Sat, January 10, 2004 - 4:36 PM
one thing that i've noticed about tribe is that talking online is fun and is a great way to share information, but the real s--t goes down when people who meet online get together offline to make things happen.

so, what do we want to make happen?

i'm really interested in meeting up with fellow los angeles writers to share work and start up regular readings around town.

if anyone is a photographer, i really enjoy doing art modelling.

also, it might be cool to get politically active as a tribe. don't mean to offend any republican ladies that might be lurking on this list, but bush is a proven enemy of reproductive/gay/civil rights and i'm down for using my creativity to create anything that will keep him from getting re-elected. maybe this can be a tribe-sponsored project? (seems appropriate for "sisterhood of the burnin' bush") what do you think?

Ah well, the only time I've met someone offline that I met first on Tribenet was a chicken-tribe member here in Flag who lost half her flock to a dog or coyote or something. So I gave her two big fat gold-laced wyandotte hens to help keep her remaining birds warm and cozy in the coop.

      Is that the real s--t?

Seriously, I'm game, but not likely to show in in LA too often. It's a long, long drive across the Mohave. Right now I'm putting my efforts towards Dean's Campaign.

If, heaven forfend, he doesn't get the nomination, I'm all for helping the Dem that does.

I was thinking of a monthly stitch and bitch (though it doesn't really have to be sewing) starting next month at my place in San Francisco. My idea would be to have someone bring in simple projects and ideas for all of us to work on or learn from. For example, a friend of mine makes glorious notebooks. Maybe one to three speakers per night. We'd start it in SF but if there's interest where y'all live there could be more parties. What do you think? Maybe we could have stitch and bitch parties listed on the main page, linking to this tribe, to make it more lively.
    Anyhoo, tell me your thoughts.

I host a Crochet and Knitty Circles in the SF - Mission District and a Stich an Bitch when it gets closer to Burning Man.

Btw -- I'm an abstract artist who paints on wood, a belly dancer, heathen and spawn of the devil "heeheee".

I'm excited about the possibilties of this tribe for networking and getting together for gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrlia action or just like minded debauchery.

I will be totally into knitting when I hit SF as of beginning of March. Could you put me on your email list for those nights? I am also into scrapbooking- I've got 10 months of pictures and bits and bobs to sort out and work on when I get settled. We used to have stich and bitches up in Toronto close to BM time, we also had smut n' crafts, a dirtier version of the bitch.
